Аннотация: This article is a brief and preliminary survey of the translations of Pushkin’s work into Icelandic from 1878 to the present. Alexander Pushkin was the first Russian author to be translated into Icelandic, in 1878, and also the first one to be translated from the original, in 1937. His prose works, Povesti Belkina in particular, have been more extensively translated than his poems. Even though an Icelandic translation was made of the libretto of Eugene Onegin when the opera was staged in Reykjavík in 1994 — Pushkin’s novel in verse remains untranslated into Icelandic. The venue for the translations of Pushkin’s works has mainly been journals and newspapers. A small number of articles have been published about Pushkin in Icelandic, and it can be assumed that Pushkin and his works are well known and appreciated among a relatively small group of people in Iceland, preferably those who read Russian. However, he still remains little known to the general reading public.
